You know what I want to see?  I want to see a comic set in the Gotham suburbs, the Gotham Metropolitan Area, the great sprawling slummy mess radiating out from the city proper.  I want to hear the stories of the people who don’t technically live in Gotham, but near enough that they identify with it.  The blue collars who commute to and from the city every day.
They don’t have to deal with super villains or mob bosses, but corrupt city councilmen who want to do things like cut public transit and tear down whole neighborhoods to add a lane or two to the freeway.  The pay is too low, the rent is too high, the public schools are underfunded, the police operate with impunity.  Gotham is pretty bad, but Upstate Gotham might be even worse.
I want to see a vigilante rise up in Gotham’s periphery.  Someone who tears down hostile architecture in the public park, or beats up the asshole who’s been stealing the welfare checks from Señora Narvaez’s mailbox.  He breaks into the CVS at night to get insulin and epipens for the people who can’t afford the $10,000 markup.  He hunts down the cop that got away with murdering an unarmed black kid.  He’s stopped multiple home invasions, he’s prevented dozens of carjackings, he’s been awarded a lifetime supply of free slurpees after he caught  the mugger who held up Mr. Shirazi’s 7-11.
...
You know, now that I think about it, I’m basically imagining the DC version of Spider-Man.
Sure, why not, let’s go with that

What to do if you can't get an EpiPen
New Post has been published on https://cialiscom.org/what-to-do-if-you-cant-get-an-epipen.html
What to do if you can't get an EpiPen
Britain’s leading faculty nurse previous night accused well being chiefs of downplaying the EpiPen crisis as it was exposed an international shortage of the jabs could halt youngster vaccination programmes owing to start out this thirty day period.
The news will add to the fear and irritation for the UK’s believed 250,000 allergy victims who depend on the adrenaline car-injectors to halt existence-threatening reactions to foodstuff, insect stings and bites, and medications.
If this issue, anaphylactic shock, is not swiftly treated, there can be dire effects, as proved by the tragic loss of life of 15-year-outdated Natasha Ednan Laperouse, who endured a lethal reaction to a Pret A Manger baguette.
The United kingdom has an estimated 250,000 allergy sufferers who count on the adrenaline automobile-injectors to halt lifetime-threatening reactions to foods, insect stings and bites, and medicines
The 1st indications of the world wide EpiPen scarcity arrived in April when Mylan, a US-primarily based agency that can make the pre-loaded syringes, warned of provide challenges. The two other brand names of photographs readily available in the Uk, Jext and Emerade, are now also tough to obtain.
In an energy to present a short-term correct, the Medicines and Health care Goods Regulatory Agency issued assistance at the stop of September that the use-by day of adult-use EpiPens, which have a 12-thirty day period shelf-daily life, can be extended by 4 months. The extension does not apply to EpiPen Junior versions.
There are no official figures on how lots of EpiPens continue being in the British isles – but a lot of pharmacies report that they do not have any left.
Now it has emerged that the scarcity may perhaps toss numerous national vaccination schemes into chaos, such as the childhood jabs for MMR, HPV and meningitis, and for seasonal flu.
Sharon White, CEO of The University and General public Wellness Nurses Association, said: ‘You can not give vaccines of any variety except if you have an anaphylaxis pack made up of adrenaline jabs, because of the threat of a intense allergic response to substances employed in vaccines. At the minute there’s no facts to be experienced from anyone and every person in officialdom just would like to engage in down the crisis.’
Pharmacist Sid Dajani in Eastleigh, Hampshire, says he has no adrenaline automobile-injectors at all. ‘I haven’t observed an EpiPen for two months and we ran out of Jext car-injectors a month back.’ As of previous 7 days he was no lengthier presenting flu vaccines.

Parenting message boards and Twitter are awash with worried mothers and fathers and allergy victims stating they cannot get their approved car-injectors, irrespective of contacting several pharmacies on a each day basis.
The experts’ advice…
Do not dispose of expired products just before obtaining a new one. Recall, the four-month extension on expiry dates is guidance from British isles charity the Anaphylaxis Campaign.
Continue to keep attempting. Anyone who doesn’t have an vehicle-injector and cannot get one particular ought to connect with all the pharmacies in their place right up until they come across one that even now has inventory. Finding a single may possibly involve travelling. Be fast – owing to superior desire, pharmacists won’t reserve vehicle-injectors.
A single automobile-injector is enough for most men and women, though these with a lot more extreme difficulties who have two doses ought to keep on to do so.
Take further care to stay clear of allergens. Dr Pamela Ewan, consultant allergist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, suggests: ‘Most allergic reactions can be dealt with with antihistamines.’
Smaller scientific tests show that EpiPens can continue to be strong for many years. Researchers in California observed EpiPens that were 50 months out of date contained at minimum 90 for each cent of the said volume of the adrenaline. The drug does not become poisonous.
Check with your child’s university to go nut-free. Dr Adrian Morris, an allergy doctor at the Surrey Allergy Clinic, says: ‘Otherwise, make positive your university knows about your child’s triggers and usually takes steps to minimise any contact all through the school working day.’
Educational institutions may have a inventory of EpiPens as they can obtain them without having prescription. If you can not get one, compose to your child’s teacher to see if there is one on web-site.
If your baby has significant allergies, and you can’t get an car-injector then you could be justified in holding them away from school. Dr Morris reported: ‘Children may have to be stored at house and out of harm’s way.’
In serious circumstances, Dr Morris suggests inquiring your medical doctor for ampoules of adrenaline and syringes. ‘The GP may need to prescribe the age- proper quantities and instruct the parent how to inject this into the boy or girl in a circumstance of anaphylaxis.’
Never ever try out to make your very own EpiPen, as some people are advocating on the web, claims Dr Morris. ‘They can are unsuccessful and it’s really not a harmless and trustworthy solution.’
If you are travelling by air, the Anaphylaxis Campaign advises: ‘Stick to simple food items with no sauces and dressings and take harmless, non-perishable snacks with you. If you really don’t know what is in the meals, never take in it.’ Some airlines have eliminated peanut treats from flights, but you need to carry wipes to clean up surfaces on the aircraft to minimise the possibility of skin get in touch with with traces on seat-back trays and armrests.
In an crisis – irrespective of whether or not you have an automobile-injector – connect with 999 or go to your closest incident & crisis section, states Dr Ewan.
Ask a silly issue: why can’t you tickle by yourself?
Cognitive neuroscientist Professor Sarah-Jane Blakemore, from University University London, says: ‘The answer lies at the again of the brain in an area known as the cerebellum, which is concerned in checking actions. Our investigation displays the cerebellum can forecast sensations when your very own motion leads to them but not when an individual else does. So when you test to tickle your self, the cerebellum predicts the feeling and this prediction is applied to cancel the reaction of other brain spots to the tickle.’ There are also two brain locations that procedure how tickling feels – and each of these areas are significantly less lively all through self-tickling than in the course of tickling carried out by anyone else.
